Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6:00PM. Our speaker will be Chris Parker, a professional puppeteer and storyteller who has captivated audiences with his unique presentations for over 30 years. Adults and children alike are fascinated with his use of the Sesame Street characters and voices, as well as many other characters that Chris has personally developed throughout the years. Chris and his wife, Tevis, took his “friends” to Africa in September of 2010 to encourage the children of Mombasa, Kenya. Chris is now retired from Salvation Army service but is still very active with the puppet ministry by serving churches, schools, community service organizations, prisons and jails. We look forward to your joining us. Let Fred MacDonald (425-488-1355) or Randy Sanders (randyandsusie@comcast.net) know if you plan to attend. See you there.

MEN'S GROUP DINNER - FEBRUARY 7 - 6:00
Our next Men’s Group gathering is set for Thursday, February 7 at 6:00. We usually meet on the second Thursday of the month but decided that a Valentine’s Day meeting was probably not a good idea. What is a good idea is the program. C. Gordon Hale, M.D. and Desmond B. Tuason, M.D. two St. Thomas, Medina parishioners, will discuss their missionary work in the Province of Abra, located in the Cordillera Mountains of northern Luzon in the Philippines. Their work began in 1998 and it has gradually evolved from holding small, informal clinics in Dr. Tuason’s family home and giving an informal talk or two on health topics, to seeing far larger numbers of patients in clinics organized and facilitated by churches and schools in the area, to giving more formal lectures (Tips on Healthy Living) in secondary school auditoriums. Besides continuing these activities, their ongoing work now includes a series of radio broadcasts which reach an audience of approximately 300,000 listeners weekly.
The needs are vast and can never be completely met, but as the mission has expanded they have seen the need for their own residential, educational and clinical facility, on which work began in 2008. The Mission House is now nearly finished, and includes a small medical facility, a conference room/small auditorium, a chapel and a retreat dormitory for about 12 persons, as well as a residential section.
Dr. Hale and Dr. Tuason continue to treat people in need of care, but their principal focus is now on health education, primarily at the secondary level. We look forward to hearing about their exciting story and ministry and thank Chitra Wright for putting us in touch with them. Brian Hoesl will be the chef. Please RSVP to this email. Thank you very much, hope to see you there.

Men's Group Thursday, Jan 10, 2013
Our next Men’s Group gathering met on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 6PM. Dinner was provided. Our speaker was Dan Satterberg, who was elected King County Prosecuting Attorney in November 2007 to succeed his longtime friend and mentor, the late Norm Maleng (Norm was also a speaker at Men’s Group in the 1980’s). Dan was re-elected in 2010 without opposition. Dan served as Chief of Staff for Norm Maleng for 17 years, and was responsible for the management and operation of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, including budget, human resources, technology, legislative and policy matters. The Prosecuting Attorney's Office employs more than 232 attorneys, 263 staff, and has a budget of over $61 million. Before 1990, Dan was a trial attorney in the Criminal Division, where he spent rotations in the Special Assault Unit, Drug Unit, and served as the office's first gang prosecutor in 1988. Dan was born and raised in South King County and attended Highline High School. His father was a lawyer in White Center and his mother was a nursing instructor at Highline Community College. He graduated from the UW undergraduate school (Political Science and Journalism) and the UW Law School, where he met his wife Linda, a corporate lawyer. They live in Normandy Park with their two children, ages 21 and 16. Dan's hobbies include his rock band, "The Approximations," where he plays bass and sings, hiking, running, and traveling with his family. Dan is also active in his own church. We look forward to having him join us.
